To-do list for next year

1. Learn the basics of playing an electric guitar
2. Get the score for Uruha’s part in Silly God Disco
3. Find 4 more members to fill in the places for vocalist, guitarist, bassist and drummer
4. Convince them to like and learn the song
5. Tailor Silly God Disco’s clothes worn by the band members in the PV
6. Put our names down for next year’s talent time
7. Rock down the school hall with Silly God Disco!! 8D

This will be my chance to spread Gaze-rock in my school before I leave the campus. Who will turn down the chance to try pole-dancing with a guitar in front of the whole school cohort? For those who have no idea who “Uruha” is, spot the guy in purple and possesses a pair of sexy legs playing the guitar solo at around 2:00. The other guitarist in black is Aoi, by the way (the 2nd guy of my dreams, 1st being Kai the drummer).

*RAWR* im getting biased for this annual event of the year. this is one of my highly dreaded yet highly anticipated program by the student council to show off hidden talents in school. this year’s title: Roar It Out! (In conjunction with national day, I think…)

The same thing goes every year. a rep from the SC comes on stage and announce the start of registration *why the heck is there registration fee for this year?!* and the booth comes on at the canteen. Following that will be the auditions and finally the event itself. yay.

However, a special rule has been added this year, due to the date it’s held (national day i think), everyone has to choose a song sung/composed by a singaporean to perform on that day. Oh, the dread… JJ Lim and Stephanie Sun will soon be blasted, not that I hate them. And then this song came to my mind: Redwan Ali’s Would You Be There, ending song of chinese drama Venus and Mars. It’s a real pretty song!

Back to topic. The different groups allowed on stage are solos, duets and bands of UP TO 3 FREAKIN’ PEOPLE?!?! WTF. what on earth can a 3-man band play? Vocalist, guitarist and keyboards? That is too darn little to play a proper song… Get a full band for goodness sake please.

Anyways, the nightmare of this program is the bands. The hall is definitely NOT a place to have a band play on the stage (Though I still have nice fantasies of Silly God Disco or Taion on-stage, in front of the whole school cohort). The drums are almost always too loud, covering the guitars and sadly, the vocalist too. Plus, isn’t there anyone into Japanese music? Oh, what I will give just to hear a familiar band like UVERworld, L~arc En Ciel or even Antic Cafe and the GazettE playing their famous songs in my pathetic-chinese-english-songs-ridden school to appreciate the fine music of the JRock! GAH.

Rini did go on stage once, when I was still a little sec one and fresh into the s’pore cosplay community for a coupla months only. That was the only time I heard a japanese song played in the school hall, but what did my school give in response? mutters and more mutters cos they cannot understand the lyrics sung so must talk. to hell for them. the only singers my school admit as japanese music must be ayumi hamasaki and *shudder* koda kumi. (darn. befouled my blog with her name.)

Ball-jointed dreams: Gentle Soori

I’m addicted to looking at his photos now… i just can’t seem to get enough! plus with all those wonderful pictures i see in sgcafe’s dollfie gallery, i’m envious of these rich bastards doll owners. now… do i hear people asking what “dolls” i’m speaking of? here’s a small summary of Ball-Jointed Dolls, or easier known as BJD.

Many call them “Dollfies”, but this name is copyright to the 1st generation of BJDs by the company VOLKS in 1999, also known as the “Super Dollfie” line of BJDs. Now, there are many companies making these BJDs, with the best coming from Japan and Korea while China slowly rises to create their own sculpts for the dolls with better quality and longer durability. These dolls range in sizes from as large as 60 cm for the bigger BJDs (1/3), 40cm for mini dolls (1/4) and 10cm for the tiniest ones (1/6). The cost varies from $1000/+ to $100/+, depending on the size and whether these dolls are limited edition or collector dolls. They are customisable to your choice by terms of clothes, wigs, make-up and body parts.

The easiest way to spot these dolls is to see them either nestled in the arms of a (most of the time) girl, wearing lolita or jrock clothing or on a table display, posed on doll furniture that are purchased for the sole purpose of taking photos and showing them off to the public. They can be spotted in cosplay events too.

So now’s the question, why am I introducing these expensive yet beautiful dolls to all of you readers? Mainly due to me having my eyes set on one of the dolls of Iplehouse! Here’re some photos of the doll, named “Gentle Soori” of the Youth Iple Doll (Y.I.D.) line.

His height being 63cm, he’s one of the larger or 1/3 scale dolls. These dolls don’t cost cheap, so he costs US$550 just for him, a pair of random eyes (yes, you can change the eyeballs too), a random wig, a carrier bag with coverlet, a certificate and a set of basic clothes which includes a simple white button-up tee and blue jeans. After purchasing him I have to start buying his underwear first followed by some simple pieces of clothing. I do see a lot of people with their dolls fashioned after VK and lolita, so I’ve decided to follow the casual line of t-shirts and jeans or cargo pants. Total it up and it’s almost another US$100. Oh… the pain… my pocket…

Tired… damn tired… couldn’t bother to come online for the last 2 days over the weekend as i was too tired to do so. plus i had to prepare for the stuff needed on sunday during saturday night, so everything got pushed to be settled on today. thank goodness it’s youth day…

Well, my day as hibari kyouya wasn’t that well. we entered the event hall late at around 3pm and had to leave at 5:30pm to head home early. ended up taking a whole bunch of shots that just threw mt face away! those poses were utterly humiliating…

Note to yukiya: I want a KHR photoshoot, please! for the sake of Hibari’s name!

Day 2 was slightly better, but SD wasn’t that happy, as many peeps didn’t really prepare enough bandages. plus the anbu insignia on the left forearm looks so easy yet so hard to draw. but i spent that day well. got real close to eva and logic cosplaying the male fighter in field plate armour and the male musketeer in his original outfit respectively. (i hugged them both!) so cool… It’s my dream to be just like them… met rundaria, nightwing, lolipeg and luna of my GE team for the 1st time. Nice meeting you guys! the mini team discussion we had during dinner was nice, at least we covered some stuff like our upcoming skit. looking forward to further outings and meetings with you all!

Note: don’t fret kai, your costume will come out better! and to the GE team, ganbarre! we will pull through together for WCG 09/EOY 09/Cosfest 2010!
