Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core

I decided to write this post after my sister played the ending over and over again for about 3 times, showing the CGI cut scene which Zack dies. Then I thought, must all the good bishies with a heart of gold die so early yet so heroically? I swear, after Cloud screamed and the song began, Zack turned around and ‘captured’ my heart. It leaped! I couldn’t believe that it was possible to fall for a computer-generated character so easily!

Never mind, I shall now show you the ending of the game, after you fight the final battle as Zack. This video also includes an extra spoiler on the remake of the original Playstation game, Final Fantasy VII. Details about this being a true remake is not known, but fans are keeping their hopes high with the awesome cut scene graphics!

Then there’s the ending song, Why by Ayaka. The 2nd video enclosed includes the song in the background and english tanslated lyrics, so don’t hesitate to click on it and know the meaning of the japanese song. After I watched it, I kept thinking that this song was as if Zack or Aerith is singing to Cloud. The meanings all fit, especially those who know the full storyline of Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children (movie) will understand what I mean. So touching, it jerked a tear from me, which is very rare to happen indeed.

I broke my own barrier of attempting to draw a buxom woman! That’s a first… plus she’s from an ecchi animanga, which makes things harder while drawing her. Then again, from the manga she’s from and my lack of knowledge on her overall character, I was puzzled very much by the theme. Until on this Friday night, while listening to the GazettE’s Gentle Lie, it crossed my mind about something. I leapt into researching the parts necessary for the drawing and drew her prototype by the next day. Now, it’s finished! My 3rd commission work, as I call it.

Suspense is a must. Whatever small and insignificant thing I say in here could be a clue for him to guess what Tsukiumi is wearing. I don’t want to break the suspense I managed to build last night, so I’m keeping it under cover for now…

Who knew, curls aren’t that easy to draw, including the ruffles of her collar in her orginal costume. You guys can try googling it (“sekirei tsukiumi“) and see for yourself. Her figure was the hardest to pull off, as her chest does no good but cause me to forget how a normal woman’s body is like. In the end, I did finish it, but still, I’m not happy with her torso. Stupid bosoms. And then there’s flowers. God I have to start learning how to draw a proper rose! My roses seem like those painted on stained glass in chapels. They look like crap. Oh, and there’s the clothes. No need to pay extra attention on this part, my dear client, nothing new is gonna pop up here. Darn, I always knew designing clothes isn’t my forte (so why the heck did I join the De.Li.Te. contest by the school library? Oh, cos my classmate forced me to.), and I was so happy with what I came up with in class too! Then again, it’s supposed to be a ________, so I had to resort to the Internet to give me some ideas instead.

As of now, 24 August 2008, 2214 hours (GMT +8), she’s nestled in my file, waiting to be laminated on Tuesday. *Looks at picture* What trouble you’ve given me… but i guess it’s worth it, as I now know how to draw another character. Edit: I redrew her. Figures her entire torso is so ruined she looks so non-human to me. So unnatural… pshh… but rejoice! I finished the entire picture in class, while having chemistry and english. the teachers didn’t kill me and im surprised. i shouldn’t even be doing this in school…

Upcoming event: Cosplay Matsuri

who’ll know, i’m actually looking forward to something very bad on that day: cries of “HB IS HERE!” and stuff like that. a complete fiasco she has blown up from her comments and photos on her flickr account.

It’s not about what she wears, really. It’s more like what she did and her attitude to our comments. There are 2 incidents with her as the culprit, namely the ‘lolita’ affair and the ‘photo caption’ affair.

For the ‘lolita’ affair, it will be very bad for your eyes to see her photos, thus I’m not posting them here. I’ll be fouling my own blog anyway… Here’s what she did (in point form, so you don’t have to read through one after another wall of text):

1. She wears an outfit that is very far from the tarditional lolita fashion we see on the net. (For reference, please search for “Lolita fashion”.)
2. Proceeding to a local forum’s sub culture section for lolita-lovers, she posts the pictures of her.
3. As it did not come to meet the criteria for a Lolita, she was politely told to review on her clothes then post the pictures.
4. She rebuts by saying that it’s the lolita-lovers who’ve gotten the facts wrong, saying that what she wore was the correct thing to wear to fit the name “Lolita”. (For this case, search “Lolita book”.)
5. The community corrects her by saying that they are following the fashion, not the book under the same name. The lolita fashion is derived from the Victorian Age of Europe, thus the poofy skirts and elegant feel of lolitas.
6. Final rebut from her is that she calls us freaks as lovers of a fashion that will never be deemed ok by the public and that we’ve seriously misinterpreted the meaning of ‘lolita’, when both are completely different, just that they share the same name.

Now, on to the next affair, which infuriates us even more.

1. On her blog, she claims to respect us cosplayers with our costumes and props, thus the coverage of various events over 2 years in the site and her taking photos with us.
2. However, we found out that she placed degrading captions on our faces through a certain function on flickr. Some captions include us seemingly wanting to flip her skirt/rape her/make her our sex slave.
3. Infuriated, we tried to garner a reply from her and at least an explanation in which did she do so.
4. Her explanation: “Light humour”
5. This pissed us even more, so we decided to tell her remove the captions, at the very least in respect for the name of various cosplayers who had posed with her before. For the cosplayers are never these sort of people to do this to anyone.
6. Her spokesperson ‘charged’ us of stealing the photos and adding on the captions ourselves, which is blatantly wrong as they can still be seen on her flickr album. It being her account, unless we hacked into it, it can only mean that she added those captions herself.

SRF’s outing to ECP

kai, i do have a feeling you’re the only gentleman i ever know. the other guys around me just aren’t as thoughtful. i am not insulting any guy who happened to see my blog. thanks for the comments on the baked goodies, even baking pre-mixed content takes some thought into it. you did really well on your dish too *grins*. and as you’ve said before, cooking for your friends does give a very satisfied feling at the end of day after hearing their positive comments. it’s not your fault that you converted me to instumental music, so dun go on apologising.

Well, we from Spartako Retarda Famaglia had an outing yesterday, to the East Coast Park! SD and i arrived 30 mins early, but we met ah poke just in front of the control station, thus we joined him and waited. Before long, justice, sawa, shiki, moster and javan came along with whatever they were to bring for the trip. All food and drinks, for the cutlery were covered by winter, whom we met up with at ECP along with kaen and kai.

It rained while we were moving to ECP, stranding us at Macdonald’s while waiting for the drizzle to stop and enjoying that bottle of jellybeans sawa brought along. Liqorice appeared to be a well-known flavour amongst us now. However, after moster went out for a little scouting, he reported that it will be inevitable for us to get our bums wet if we were to stay at ECP. Proposing that we move to the bowling alley, we went but the plaque outside bearing the forsaken words “No outside food and drinks allowed” stopped us from entering. It was another 10 mins of discussing with the main organiser and waiting for jerome to finish his business concerning his anus that we led the group to the nearby HDB blocks to finish off the perishable food we had with us.

Thanks to a kind ah ma for bringing us to a void deck that had a nice table for us to sit around, the cake was brought out and we began to light the candles for Lavi’s birthday. (No, i’m not pulling your leg. we did celebrate a animanga character’s birthday.) the cake was divided and the picnic unofficially started. In the first paragraph, there were mentions of kai’s and my cooking. He brought along honey-coated chicken sticks while I blueberry muffins and chocolate chunk cookies (it is chocolate chunk cookies). I figured that the worries of not enough food wasn’t needed, for we brought too much instead. In the middle of it, yumeno came along and joined us for lavi’s birthday ‘feast’.

After lunch, a round of ice-breaker game was played ending with moster and javan facing a penalty each. Hearing all the confessions of “I never…” and “I have…” was indeed fun. Packing up of leftovers was really fast, and i am happy at the efficiency of kaen for cleaning up most of the food. thanks! with a slice of cake, 2 cookies (devoured at the end of the day by kai and SD), 6 or 7 muffins, a loaf of bread and lots of snacks, we moved to marina square for the rest of the day’s activities.

Getting off the bus at Suntec City, we moved towards the overhead bridge that led us to our destination. Along the way, we met ayu (one of Team Timcanpy’s Kandas) and 2 other DGM cosplayers (as Lavi and Komui) before continuing on our way. At Marina Square, I admit passing by two furniture shops that have couches and beds similar to the Granado Espada Era. However, the price of them are staggering (5 digits!). What can we expect from gilted, cushioned armchairs that (may) have been coated with gold leaves? Our walk ended at the bowling alley and arcade.

Amidst the rounds of DJ Max Portable 2, I didn’t say goodbye to kaen and shiki who left early! I didn’t greet ayu yesterday too. I am feeling a little bad inside me, for being so ignorant as friends. If any of you guys are reading this, I’ll like to apologise! Then, after a few rounds at the bowling alley, we moved to the arcade for the final segment of the day.

After Para Para 2nd Mix, Drum Mania V, Guitar Freaks V2 and another (i forgot the name of the game), we went out and said our rounds of goodbyes to each other. At then, ideas for the next SRF outing is already starting to form in my mind, but i will have to consider what are we going to do and when are we going to hold this outing. Preferably, it should be a few months away.

As sub-orgamiser of the outing, I am very happy that everyone, more or less, had enjoyed themselves at the outing. I do not have any experience as a organiser for an outing, and for my first to be so successful, I am very satisfied indeed. Thank you to all participants of the outing!

Roar it out! and Connect Singapore

Due to connect singapore, i missed out on this year’s annual ’star search’. drat… and there were 2 of my classmates on stage in a 5-man band! plus according to my class’s councilors, one of them played one hell of a guitar solo! GARRGH.

Connect Sigapore didn’t go as i expected it to be. over at where the president was (yes he attended the event), they started off real well and even recited the pledge holding hands. here, far, far away, we missed out the entire event without knowing it. am pissed. very so.

back on Roar it out! i figured i do want to be on stage. what’s stopping me is just my meager knowledge on the arts of band instruments plus the lack of band members. i could not believe that one of them decided to use a white jacket to cover over the white top of our school uniform and just go on stage like that. the horrors… JRock is affecting my life. it is! i’m only listening to music played by a band! no more synthetic music ever since then. what a change…
