The Final Post of 2008 – Reflections of the year

December 31, 2008 vegahighwell 4 comments

The final day of the year is now upon us, and for the first time ever since I started blogging on various platforms I’ll be attempting to record down the things that rocked my life in 2008, with a reflection of course.

  • Getting into Class 3E3

Well it was quite surprising that I will be taking a triple science and double math course in Sec 3, with that woeful math results from Sec 2. Now that the year has ended, I have to say I regret little on my choice of course. Although the academic year didn’t close off on a good note for me with results just getting by and some very pretty failures, the class was a good one. We shared memories, good and bad of the year behind us (no, YOU did not make my days in Sec 3 a happy one, b***h). I hope to see everyone in Class 4E3 this Friday!

  • The Secondary 3 Adventure Camp

My first chance to step onto foreign soil was a true eyeopener for me. It was my first time in Malaysia in my 15 years and… No, I didn’t experience any real contact with them… It’s still unforgettable, nevertheless, for its natural habitat, peaks, rivers, amazingly long and butt-numbing bus rides and houseflies. Hoo yeah, no one can forget THAT part of the 5D4N camp.

  • The ups and downs of my social life

Well I didn’t fall out with anyone in this year (not that I mean I do that on a regular basis, I just don’t want any misunderstanding about the ‘down’ part) yet it was surprisingly a bumpy ride on the social roller coaster. I mean, they was some faulty communication between you and me (you know who you are so just keep mum) and on my part being quite immature at times just made me think this way. I can’t stop anything that life throws at us, all I can do is just try to cope with it. Well, I hope I did (which I highly doubt). Thanks for being there at my hardest times of the year and for the last time, I am NOT anyone’s girlfriend. I mean, GEEZ.

  • My Gaming Life

Yeah that totally sucked. I made that little timetable to ensure that I can reach Veteran status before the end of the year. I did, but on the first half of this year it completely ruined my academic life, just… beautifully. So I resolved from gaming for about 3 months, returned into the New World and guess what? The faction I so wanted to be in just went dead. I leeched off the additional 3 family levels a level 52 faction gives to every member and got myself to a good level 9X before getting invited into a popular faction, by means of relations with another player. However there was the getting-to-know-the-newbie part, so it was only after a couple of weeks from the time I left my previous faction that I finally got admitted into the latest one. By the way, there’s a one-week rule for players who have either gotten kicked out of a faction or quit one before they can join a new faction. Now, I am really enjoying the life in this new faction… The leader lent me some equipments when I attained Veteran status last Sunday (I had been waiting for a week for the promotion scrolls) to join them in raiding the Secret Temple.

  • My Cosplay Life

Pretty good, I can say, though I wasn’t very hyped over the characters I cosplayed this year. Yeah, they might be one of the smexy male animanga characters you see and worship over, but for me they just add some sort of unknown pressure on my shoulders. More plans for the coming years… more bishounens to cosplay as…

See you all next year! (In less than 30 mins)

Rants Part 10

December 28, 2008 vegahighwell Leave a comment

Whoever would’ve thought that this ‘Rant’ thing can go on to reach a double-digit?

Anyway, I really do need to find a new copy of DJ Max Portable 3: Clazziquai edition. Mine is only playing on one side of the songs, making it impossible to hear anyone singing while playing the songs, nor are BGM playing and the OSTs aren’t reacting either! I can only view the video AND listen to the full song at the same time. Darn…

Plus, why am I addicted to a Korean love song about first kisses?

Rants Part 9

December 27, 2008 vegahighwell Leave a comment

Damn I suck. I don’t have any good experience in cosplaying yet I’m trying to tell someone to not give up on the hobby? Besides, I am no different. Even though I do get myself dolled up for the day, I don’t walk around the event area to allow more people to take my photos, so what the hell is my point of wasting money and time preparing for the day? Nothing. I might as well quit cosplay as a point.

Bah. I’m probably loathing myself now cos I’m helpless.

Reflection – Hanging over at Kaen’s home

December 23, 2008 vegahighwell Leave a comment

Not just me, but kai, jkkh, stjh, yukiya, sd, xin, ah poke, javan, ilanlan, justice, sawa, winter and yukino, and last but not least the host, kaen herself. That’s a total of 15 people!

Boy was it fun, with all of us there, the PSP party, DFTL, the chocolate banana fudge cake and wii. Who can forget that game console that ranks #1 globally? We all had fun and wow… what a day it was…

Although we had a timetable, but due to unforeseen circumstances, we weren’t really following it. Just that we know what events we have coming up next and the time was changed and all that. The PSP party did take some time, but I was able to take the chance to train my 3 GE characters through their final 30% to lvl 100.

Next, DFTL. Oh my goodness, it was a pretty mess at the beginning, and I could feel a sore throat coming on while the game was in progress. Must be the jelly beans that SD brought. I had no choice but to change the rules completely and just let them sing. It appears to be more easier to play that way then the original rules of DFTL. Next time, should we have this game on again, I am so going to use the same set of rules I came up last minute! Windows Media Player kept replaying the songs that were played on shuffle. Have to remind myself to really take away the songs from the list after they’ve been played.

The Chocolate Banana Fudge Cake that winter and moster ordered is really good. Even though it costs $60, it kind of felt worth the money spent on it. One thick slice for everyone! That costs $5 each, hehe.

We are getting hooked on to the wii, I believe. Played Mario and Sonic’s 2008 Olympics only throughout the 2 hours or so. Running: It is almost like really running, except that it’s your arms that feel the strain, not your legs. Swimming: Just as tedious as running. Shooting: Musketeers/Marksmen FTW. Archery: Okay this one is a killer that requires skill at handling a real bow apparently. Dream Fencing: Hah! Even though I lost to a Musketeer, I still had loads of fun. Hammer throw: Throw at the fencing why don’t you? Table Tennis: Just reminds me of wiisports’ tennis.

My brownies made their second appearance on that day, but I really believe I have put too much sugar in it, no matter how many times you guys see me ranting about it. I hope all of you enjoyed ‘em!

Great. I forgot to return Kai’s possession and give him his Christmas gift.

Oh, and thank you Kaen, for giving me that GazettE poster!

Comparison – A Man’s Thing

December 17, 2008 vegahighwell Leave a comment

Yes, especially when it comes to comparing women.

This came about last night when Kai conversed to me about the new Tsukiumi picture I posted last night. According to him, the latest artwork had lost the ‘lure’ which was achieved in the previous artwork. Both pieces hold the same woman, the same pose and clothes. Just what is so different?

Photobucket Tsukiumi FINAL

I compared them myself, and I can admit that the look in her eyes have changed in the latest artwork. However, I could not sense that attraction that Kai experienced in the earlier one, no matter how hard I tried.

I guess, it’s a man’s thing.

The picture at your right hand side is sized down to fit the size of the one on the left. Click it for the full size.

Reflection – a shopping trip and a redraw

December 16, 2008 vegahighwell Leave a comment

My goodness… a shopping can never take that long for me… which was like, nearly 2 hours spent in Art Friend searching for all of the materials I need for making my armour. I am actually quite glad Kai was around to help, if not I will have stayed there even longer, not knowing what to do or buy. Thanks for mkaing the trip with me Kai.

He pretty much cancelled off or replaced items on the list (like posterboards to drawing board) to save costs. Thanks to that, the total amount of what I bought only came up to $26.60, much lesser than what I had expected. Now, with my materials bought, I can start working on the template of the armour (finally).

The greatsword will come when the rest of my team decides to do it together, so right now I don’t have much to worry about.

Now, I unearthed that yellow file I used to keep GE reference pictures and discovered the final picture of Tsukiumi stashed at the back! Fingers itching, I flipped to a page of my sketchbook with a desirable amount of space and started to redraw her. However, even after completing what I call a better version of that drawing, I still think it’s proportionately wrong at the hands, no matter what others say about how nice/teasing it looks.

I’m gonna keep that for a while and show a simple drawing I completed beside the redraw of Tsukiumi on the sketchpad.

Presenting... a really simple artwork

Now for da woman of someone’s dreams.

Oh yes, thanks for the early Christmas present Kai! That new pedal really did wonders and your songs now sound really well-played now. Enjoy the new Tsukiumi picture~

STAC EOY 2008 – Aftermath

December 14, 2008 vegahighwell Leave a comment

Hard day indeed… I have seemed to forgot how tiring a cosplayer can be at a cosplay event. Yet, what can I complain? All I did on that day was just camp at a corner, wasting my time. I have no idea why I remained so for the whole day, or roughly about 5 to 6 hours at that corner. The habit of staying back to look after baggage must be bugging me now that I kick it anymore!

Plus, contacts have proved to be quite a pain to me now. For such a long time that I hadn’t worn them I seemed to have gotten worse at taking off my contacts. At least I don’t have much of a problem putting them on. Convenient as they are, yes… but taking them off (for me) is such a problem I spent more than 10 mins to take them both out of my eyes! Gahhhh. My eyes just had to be blood red after my shower with all that make up remover straying around my eye area. Thank goodness it was gone when I woke up at 12nn.

Oh, and I hate binding. Enough said.

Please hold on for pictures thank you.

Reflection – A damn shopping trip for someone

December 12, 2008 vegahighwell 1 comment

Gah… She can drive me up the wall, seriously…

Alright, here’s a background story before the rant. This week is her final week to rush and finish her EOY costume, which actually involved a lot of DIY work on her side. One of the items she needed was beads for a chain and some really special buttons. She suddenly figured that she didn’t have enough (gasp!) and hence told me to leave house to help her get the items. Fine, I’ll go~

Apparently at the end of the day she didn’t even give me the correct location, saying People’s Park Complex when she actually meant People’s Park Hawker Centre. She rebutted at me that she said the latter and I didn’t hear her properly the night before my trip, leading me to People’s Park Centre. Oh gosh, what the hell is up with this woman?!

Frankly, I admit that perhaps I didn’t want to make the trip. I have a book to read finish and a trip to the library as well, as the book was due on the same day she told me to make the trip for her. However, you could at least make yourself clear to me where you meant? I mean, look at this properly, People’s Park Complex, People’s Park Centre and People’s Park Hawker Centre are three different places. HELLO?!

Now you push the blame that I didn’t catch you properly, huh. Come on woman, everyone makes mistakes in their lives so just admit you were wrong. You mistook the name of the place. You made a mistake in your perfect life. STOP PUSHING THE BLAME TO OTHERS.

This really takes some bit of control to rant without using vulgarities nor variations of vulgarities.

STAC EOY 08 @ Singapore EXPO

December 8, 2008 vegahighwell Leave a comment

Another cosplay event up ahead, this time it’s for the upcoming Saturday at the Singapore EXPO. Details are as follows:

Date: 13th December 2008 (Saturday)
Time: 11am to 7pm
Location: Singapore EXPO Convention Halls A-F
Entrance Fee: $10 (members), $12 (non-members)

Note:
- $10 for entry is ONLY open to:
Members of participating schools with helpers (I.e. If your school club is helping us at EOY, those helping get a discount.)
OR
Members of Shiro Tsubasa Animation Club itself. This is NOT the same as membership at SGCafe (Premium membership). If you are NOT a STAC member you have to pay

- $12 entry
Open to everyone else not in the above.

To report to everyone, I shall be present as Hibari Kyouya of Katekyoushi Hitman Reborn. However, the odds of not seeing me is quite high as there are numerous cosplayers of the same character on that day, given the popularity of the anime and manga right now. Hence, I cannot guarantee that you and I will be able to meet, unless you have set a time with me beforehand.

I look forward to seeing all of you at the event.
