Random post on some random thoughts
Yeah, my birthday has arrived. I’m 16. Now I’m allowed to watch all ‘em NC-16 movies, so long as my mom returns me my NRIC.
I dunno why, but surprisingly, I actually received birthday presents last year. It’s my first, hence the fuss. Being a loner does not make you remembered by your classmates on whose birthday is it today. Plus I don’t remember my parents giving me any presents. My sister is another matter all together. But everything about the giving of gifts started last year, yeap.
First there was my classmates. Wow, what a shock I got (though actually quite mild. I was keeping a cool facade while my insides churned with amazement.) when a couple of them suddenly gave me something for my birthday. Touched? Of course, who wouldn’t. I’m not cold-hearted…
Then there was… the one who gave me guitar picks last year. Yeah, yeah, I obliterated your name cos there are others who are reading this post as well, so… *looks away and prepares to flee, just in case* well, I didn’t expect something from him either. Caught me off guard while we were at Vivocity. I’m correct, right? The picks were my birthday presents, right? Correct me if I’m wrong.
Then my sister. Ah… she has a job and an income, so she somehow became generous or what and asked me what I want as a birthday present. Being a total GE hardcore gamer, I just blurted “GVCs! (Game value cards) 60k!” “Yeah, yeah, fine…” And soon, there it was, 60k G-points for me to spend. This year it’s Artemis Fowl and the Time Paradox. Still hadn’t finished it though, cos I’m reading Paolini’s Brisingr at the same time. Plus another 4 more books from the library, and my Mid-years are about to start full-swing, hoo boy…
This year, I don’t really expect a lot. The only thing that may interest me (currently) could be the prospect of eating cake. I do that every year, and even hope to bake one once in the June holidays. Just for the heck of it. On a final note to end of this really silly post, I don’t look forward to the presents that might come with the occasion, so if you’re having a headache on what to get, you can forget it. Even a simple “Happy Birthday Bya/Chang Lin/Thall(wo)mann!” is enough to lift my spirits. It did so when I was Sec 2 *smiles*.
Cheerio!
